Forever the Empty City

Forever the Empty City (Times Square)

About 4 weeks ago I hit Times Square shortly after 5 am on a Sunday morning, and was disappointed at how many people were there and how much activity was going on.  I had no illusions that the place would be deserted, but I was expecting a bit fewer other people.  Disappointed, I shot off a handful of brackets here and there, but did not look at them until I finally offloaded the images from the CF card 2 days ago.  I was quite pleasantly surprised at how much I managed to create the illusion of an empty scene in some of the shots.

Here is one, which I hardly recognize as Times Square, and not just because it is nearly empty of all cars and people.  Something about it just looks off – even the iconic face of One Times Square appears somehow alien.
