The Cop and the Hippie

I enjoyed watching this officer working the block of pavement in front of the Apple store on Fifth Avenue one evening last week. Person after person approached him, and usually it was obvious that they sought information, which he gracefully supplied. This exchange lasted more than a minute, which is pretty long as things go. It looks considerably more tense than it actually was, and ended amicably, but there was nevertheless some slight but sharp undercurrent that wasn’t present with the officer’s other interactions. The body language is fascinating.
* I also realize the man on the right is not quite visually in the hippie category, but I took a little license.
