Anybody who has ever watched American football knows what I’m talking about. A team scores a touchdown, but misses the extra point. For the rest of the game the announcers will warn us that the missed attempt is either likely to “loom large” later on, or knowingly assure us that it is “looming large.” It never just has an effect, or makes a difference. It LOOMS LARGE. Well, in Greenpoint Brooklyn, the Empire State Building “looms large” any time you look west across the East River towards Manhattan.
Once again I’ll plug the iteration of the World Wide Photo Walk I’ll be leading in Greenpoint this Saturday. Sign up at the link.
