This is Bay Lake in Walt Disney World (WDW), shortly after dawn, taken from the bridge connecting Bay Lake Tower and the Contemporary Resort.

The gorseous sunrise was something of a surprise, as our room faced the other way (towards the Magic Kingdom park). I was lucky to have had a camera ready.

Shots like this, as well as the one I just posted on Friday give me a special sort of trouble. The key element, of course, is the beautiful light and the play of colors near the horizon. The temptation is to push the saturation slider too far, then the concern shifts to whether I over compensated and dull the image. I end up going back and forth with no satisfactory answer. There is the further complication here that the area of the sky closes to the just-risen sun is blown out because this was, after all, a grab-shot. Attempts to correct that flaw usually affect the saturation as well, and in addition to wavering on the more/less saturation issue, I usually end up questioning whether the shot is salvageable and maybe I should just not use it.  At the end of things, I just settle on something, and almost always put the image out there, but not before wasting a lot of time on trying to get something perfect when my best is all I can do.
