Triborough Bridge From Astoria Park

Available In My Galleries Here

It has been a dismal winter for photography. Not just due to the extreme unrelenting cold and snow that won’t melt, but it seems that has been an extraordinary number of grey days.  You can have cold winter days with single digit temperatures, but also blue skies, limited clouds, and great photo shooting opportunities. Not this winter.

Not that I’ve kept a record, but it certainly seems there has been an abundance of greay, overcast days this winter where it doesn’t rain, hail, sleet or snow, but the sun never comes out either. apart from my 2-mile radius project and some impromptu walk-arounds to grab some snow shots, I haven’t been out around the city for the sole purpose of taking photos since November.

Yesterday morning was forecast to be sunny, and the sun did come out during the day, but the morning was still a bit of a disappointment after I got up, even with an hour of sleep lost, and tried to get some nice morning light by the Triborough bridge and Astoria Park in Queens. When I first got to this location the moon was nicely visible just under the bridge but by the time I set up, which took maybe 45 seconds, it was gone and never returned behind a wall of clouds.

Still, I was glad to get out seeing as it had been such a while. Here’s hoping for a productive Spring.
