Abstract and Abstracter – #we35

Continuing with my experimentation with abstract photography, I present two results of my first attempts at abstract images created via intentional camera movement.

I took the second (lower) one first.  After a few tries in the same location I managed the top image.   It posed a bit of a mystery as I could not figure out how the woman ended up so clear. Then a friend posted an abstract he created. It involved a much longer exposure of 8 seconds, and his camera was pointed up and mounted on a tripod. He explained that he kept the camera still for roughly half the exposure to “burn” the image somewhat, and then he spun it on the tripod.  I then realized that when I clicked the shutter I must have paused for a micro-second, just enough to get some clarity to the image before I moved the camera.
I doubt I could recreate this if I tried.
