Primitive Baptist Church, Cade’s Cove.

This is a simple, lovely church in the Cades Cove section of Smoky Mountain National Park.  The church was founded in 1827.  I understand that “Primitive” is used in the sense of “original.” I will not attempt to provide a more general accounting of this sect’s specific beliefs, because I probably would not do it justice.

The church building today is well preserved. When we visited it was a rainy overcast day, and there was no interior lighting, so everything was rather dark and moody.
