Landmark Theatre, Syracuse

This is the Landmark Theatre in Downtown Syracuse, which just reopened on November 18, 2011 after a major renovation and expansion that cost $16 million. Originally opened in 1928 and known as the Loew’s State Theatre, the lobby of the theater was renovated and restored in 2000. This time they expanded and improved the stage area and backstage facilities. I shot it on Thanksgiving weekend 2011 a couple of weeks after the re-opening, and you can see the schedule for November and early December on the marquee. I did not get inside but my understanding is that it is rather wonderful since the interior restoration.

I published a shot of part of the rear side of the building with more information about the building and renovations back in November.  I’ve got a couple more in the stream to come: one of the ticket booth and entrance that you can sort of see undee the marquee from here, and another of some doors on the side of the building leading to the office space above.

  1. A great piece of architectural photography. A relatively unassuming building has become something pretty special. The windows reflect stunning light, rich blue sky, red awnings, yellow road markings. Each colour and feature adds to create something that I love. Excellent work
