Columbus Circle at Night

Wide Angle HDR of Columbus Circle at night, taken across from the Time Warner Center. Lucis Pro mixed in at the end.  I processed 3 versions of this, with the main difference being the status of the automobile light trails of the cars passing through the traffic circle in front of me.  I decided to use the version in which I was able to scrub them out, using one of the HDR exposures during which the circle was empty.  I also have a version with the fully exposed light trails, and one in which I left them at about 1/3 strength.  I’m usually a sucker for that effect, as widespread and simple as it is.  On this photo, however, I decided to go without the trails, giving the impression of a mostly empty location.

I also took my first street portrait at this spot, right after taking the exposures for this shot.  Someone approached me and asked if I would take his picture.  I neglected to ask him if he would mind my posting it, and I have not yet contacted him to send him the images. If he agrees, I’ll put one of them up here, otherwise I’ll respect his wishes.  It was kind of a  thrill to be asked, in any event.  I’m glad at least a couple of them came out OK.
