Ain’t That America

I realize the NYC subway is only a slice of America, but it is my slice.  These are all recent, from the last month or so, and most are from the last 2 weeks.  The two gentlemen on top were sitting on opposite ends of the same seat bench.  Because July 4 fell on a Sunday, most people have today off from work and the celebration continues, if perhaps a bit more subdued.

The following has nothing to do with my photography, but it is a fitting salute to Independence Day weekend: John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever” performed by the New York Philharmonic conducted by Leonard Bernstein.  Watch Bernstein conduct with his facial expressions and eyelids during the flute section.
