It’s the remnants of a chair next to an empty lot on Dunham Place in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Shot hand-held with a 50mm prime wide open at f/1.4, with simple processing to increase the texture and contrast on the chair while leaving the background a blur. In addition, I think that Photomatix managed to properly align the hand-held shots so that the chair was aligned properly from all the separate bracketed images, but it appears that parts of the blurred background are not properly aligned with themselves. With the blur, however, I think it works.
