I like this image, but it demonstrates the limitation of a Gorillapod, as I think this image would be better if the camera were at least a few feet higher. Still, the kit for this image, which was the Gorillapod, the Nikon D700, and Nikon’s 24mm prime f/2.8 lens is a reasonably mobile set of gear. This door sits on a former on-ramp to the FDR Expressway that has been converted to a pedestrian access road to a small park on the East River near the Queensboro bridge.

22 May 2011Nice textures Mark. I want a gorillapod for that exact reason – travel kit. Nice work bud!

23 May 2011Really like this image. I’ve got a couple of the Gorilla Pods as well, but really prefer my Gitzo traveler for… travel, for the reason you mentioned the Gorilla Pod is not always ideal. What I do thing the Gorilla Pod is great for is… guerrilla HDR shooting in places that do not allow tripods, assuming you can find a place to mount it (a bench, a railing, a church pew, the top of a museums display cabinet (assuming the guards are not in the same room, and the crowds are minimal), for example).
