I did not have an Instagram roundup last week, as I took the weekend off from blog posting. These images are all from the week that I skipped, as I prefer them to any of the images I posted to Instagram this past week.The one in front used the SmugMug Camera! app, which allows you to separate the zones of focus and light metering. I used it to meter on the sky while I focused on the much darker flowers in the foreground. I then used the flash to illuminate those same flowers. Without the app, I would have had to focus and meter in the same zone, which would have meant that either (1) I focus and meter on the flowers, rendering the bright sunset sky colors in the background blown out and thereby destroying what made the image, or (2) focusing and metering on the sky, which would have kept the same zones of light as you see here, except that the flowers would be blurred and out of focus.
