This was taken during my family’s return day visit to Mohonk Mountain House last weekend, using the Nikon D7000 and the Nikkor 18-200 VR lens, which is not a true macro, but which has serviceable macro capabilities. I do not know the identity of the flower.
Regarding the colors, I was playing with the Levels adjustment in Aperture trying to perfect the color of the flower, and while doing so I inadvertently turned the leaves in the background from green to blue. I ended up happy with the result, and decided to keep it.
