Coney Island Panorama

Coney Island Subway Panorama

Coney Island is a tough place to live in the best of times, with more than its share of poverty and crime. It has not fared well since Sandy hit.  Just the opening of the linked news story is devastating, quoting a woman who traveled 6 miles on foot and by bus just to acquire food for her family because there is none to be had in Coney Island itself. It is unsafe to go out after dark. I’m tempted to let a small rant loose, but not really. Not just because it really has no place here but also because I’m tired of seeing people get simple things wrong and knowing there’s little I can do to alter that. I just want to put up a picture of Coney Island on a pretty winter morning taken from the subway platform.

News and Notes

1. I totally missed my blog anniversary last month on October 18. For my first anniversary, I did a huge retrospective. On the second anniversary last year I missed marking it by one day. This year I missed by almost a month. Anyway, three years and counting….

2. Please go check out the new blog and website of my friend Michael Criswell, aka Theaterwiz. He is now set up at criswellphotography.com, where you can find his all shots, including his very popular “Empress” series.
