I walk by this scene fairly regularly at night, and I’ve meant to capture it in fog for a while. It turned out harder than I expected. To start, although the camera (Fuji x100s) did a fine job of dealing with the low light, it was necessary to shoot with a wide aperture when a smaller one would have  cut down the light halos. It took a fair bit of work with the curves tool to get them down to this level. But on top of that I couldn’t really get the atmosphere right. And forget about color. Perhaps someone more accomplished could have fixed it, but even playing with white balance on the scene, and adjusting via white balance, curves and levels on post, I had to abandon that option and go to black and white.

I took multiple shots of another image in the same park looking down a path with some old style lamps, and those attempts fared even worse. I’m not sure I’ll be able to salvage them.
