The townhouses that line Washington Square North are some of the most famous in the city and collectively are simply known as “The Row.” Robert Neville (Will Smith) lived in one of them in “I Am Legend,” a few doors down from this one. I shot them very early on a Sunday morning, which in January was actually pre-dawn and therefore night time lighting conditions. The street lights in this neighborhood gave off an odd sort of light I found even a bit unsettling. See here. Maybe it’s just me.

In any event, this seemed a decent enough candidate for black and white conversion and it also solved the light quality problem so here it is.
