It’s Not Hard Not Far To Reach

Rockaway Beach Winter Sunrise

NOTE: I don’t often say this but if you’re inclined, click on the photo to see the original and on the page that opens, click the icon showing different sizes on the bottom right to reveal the original. This is a JPG straight out of the Fuji X-E1 with no editing. What an amazing camera.

Chewin’ at a rhythm on my bubble gum
The sun is out, an’ I want some
It’s not hard, not far to reach
We can hitch a ride to Rockaway Beach

I don’t think the Ramones ever dreamed of going to Rock – Rock – Rockaway Beach in 18˚weather. Neither did I, but a friend wanted some pictures of the neighborhood for a project. Yesterday was a day off, with beautiful weather except for the cold. I figured if I was going out to stand on the beach I could be cold at 25˚ in midday sun or be a bit colder at 18˚for the sunrise and good light.  I bundled up but I didn’t account for how cold my feet would get standing on snow on the beach. I lasted about 25 minutes from the time of my first image to my last, grabbing a couple of photos that maybe my friend could use and also some pretty shots like this.
