Teachers College, Columbia University

Teachers College, Columbia University

This is Teachers College, Columbia University fronting along W.120th Street between Amsterdam Avenue and Broadway, taken from the north end of Columbia’s Main Campus which is elevated above ground level at this point.  The two towers you see beyond Teacher’s College are from Union Theological Seminary (the smaller on the left) and The Riverside Cathedral.  Back when I attended Columbia the Riverside Church tower was open to the public, at least during some possible limited hours, and you could climb up and see the church bells up close, and get a nice view as well. According to the Church website, that is no longer possible. Such a shame. It does seem more and more that restrictions multiply and freedoms diminish.*

* Which is not necessarily a criticism of the Church.  They may have very good reasons for the changed policy. Plus it’s their tower to do with as they please.

Anyway, even though Teachers College dominates this image in terms of size and such, I find the two sun-kissed towers in the background draw the attention of my eye.
