Nubble Lighthouse – Bold Color On A Drab Day

Available In My Galleries Here

The next stop as I advance through my nXnw 2014 trip is the Nubble Point Lighthouse at Sohier Park in York, Maine. It was a very drab, grey and rainy day so my first thought, even that day, was that I would be not be rendering anything in color. But two of my friends from the trip — Chris Nitz and Robert Lussier — have already put up excellent black and white images from this spot. So I challenged myself to make something out of the day’s color palette.

The subject itself is colorful enough, but because of the weather the foliage was muted and the sky nearly completely washed out. Still, this is more vibrant than I had thought possible.
