The California Grill sits atop the Contemporary Resort in Walt Disney World, and is within walking distance to the front entrance of the Magic Kingdom park itself. It is one of the resort’s Signature Dining restaurants, which mostly means it is expensive, has a dress code (nothing too extreme, this is Disney World after all), and should provide a higher quality overall dining experience. Part of the attraction of this restaurant is its location and the access it provides to rooftop balconies on either side of the building.  If you enjoy an early dinner there, you can return later in the evening to view the Magic Kingdom nightly fireworks show from this spot.

When my family ate there last April, we did not stay or return for the fireworks, but we did enjoy this magnificent sunset during our meal.  You can see the Seven Seas Lagoon on the left, the bus, transportation, and entrance to the Magic Kingdom in the center, and Cinderella’s Castle to the right.
