This image from the battery at Fort Totten Queens first made me think of the men who once patrolled this wall, but then I remembered that this battery was never completed or used, so there are no such ghosts. So my mind drifted, thinking both of the real men and women who protect and serve, and of the Jack Nicholson speech from a Few Good Men. I have to admit that as I get older I find his character and his defense more understandable, and even sympathetic.

6 Nov 2011Lovely photo. I echo your view about Nicholson’s speech. Your point of views hopefully change into the wiser with age.

7 Nov 2011Oh wow, Mark, I LOVE this shot! I have to admit, I am a huge Nicholson fan myself, but can’t recall the exact scene you refer to. No matter, this picture totally stands on it’s own, in my humble opinion! GREAT lines here, my friend, truly great!!!
