When I first started shooting New York at night a decade ago, the first time I went out I walked about 3/4 of a mile from my office to shoot one of NYC’s moving but always present somewhere orange & white stripe steam pipes. I did not like how they came out and don’t think I ever shared any of those images. 

about a year ago, there was a pipe right near my office on Sixth Avenue, but the placement was not all that conducive to a solid image.

This week I left my office after my weekly visit, and there was a steam pipe right outside where I exit on 50th STreet, and I was able to get it and the Radio City neon framed rather nicely.
